Terms

Last updated 8 September 2026

These are the terms you use Oakward Studio under. They are short because the software is honest about what it is: it draws what you tell it and counts what that takes.

What the software does

You describe a building or a piece of furniture. It generates a frame, a materials list, a cut list and dimensioned drawings from what you entered. Every figure follows from your own dimensions — change the width and the whole thing is drawn and counted again.

What the drawings are, and what they are not

A set-out drawing for construction on site. Not a structural calculation, and not prepared for planning or building control. That sentence is printed on every sheet the software produces, and it is the term that matters most here.

Spans, member sizes and fixings come from ordinary practice and from what you chose, not from a calculation signed by an engineer. Whether your building needs planning permission or building regulations approval depends on your plot, and only your local authority can answer it. Check both before you order timber.

You are responsible for what you build. Have the design checked by someone qualified if anything about it is load-bearing, near a boundary, or something you are not sure of.

Your account

Sign-in is a link sent to your email address, so keep that address to yourself — anyone reading it can reach your designs. Tell us if you think somebody else has.

Some features are marked Pro or Studio. Neither is on sale: ask and we switch it on for your account, and we can switch it off again. No money changes hands, so nothing here is a contract to supply a paid service.

Your work stays yours

The designs you draw belong to you. Build them, sell them, hand them to a client — we claim nothing over them and take no cut of what you do with them. We hold them so you can open them again, and for nothing else.

The software, the site and the drawings it generates are ours. Use them for your own building work; do not resell the tool itself.

What we do not promise

The software is offered as it is. It is being built, it will have faults, and it may be unavailable while it changes. We do not promise that a quantity is exact or that a design suits your plot — every list is worth checking against the drawing before you order.

We are not liable for what you spend, build or lose acting on its output. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, which cannot be limited by law.

Ending it

Stop using it whenever you like. Email hello@oakwardstudio.co.uk and we delete the account and every design on it. We can close an account that is being used to attack the site or to send mail from our domain.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts settle any dispute about them. What we hold about you is covered by the privacy notice.
